'English Sunset' pastel painting

'English Sunset' pastel painting

Introduction

Welcome to my blog. It is a new incarnation of my previous "Evelyne's Moody Gallery", now defunct. This blog is dedicated to my favourite band, The Moody Blues, and to their lead singer, Justin Hayward, as a solo artist. The name "English Sunset" was inspired by a song written by Justin for the Moodies 1999 album, "Strange Times". When I discovered the band in the mid-nineties, I was motivated to pick up a guitar again, after a twenty year break, to start singing and attempt to write songs. I also took up a new hobby of drawing portraits. I first made black and white pencil portraits, then I switched to pastel painting. I worked exclusively from photos, many of them taken by fans during concerts. I am grateful to those photographers for the great pictures they took and that I used with their permission. I won't name them here for fear of forgetting one, but they were my inspiration.
The following pictures are photos of the portraits I made. Most of them are pastels, some are graphite pencil. I also added a few 'non Moody' paintings.
